We shine the spotlight on one of our AnaVators, Tory, who has been with AnaVation for three years. Since joining the company in May 2021, Tory has made significant strides in her career and has become an integral part of our diverse and dynamic team.
Tory began her journey at AnaVation as a Security Engineer on a government contract. Her work led her to transition into a new role as an IT Admin/ISSM, where she has continued to thrive. Reflecting on her time at AnaVation, Tory shared that her skills have grown immensely, particularly in communication, time management, and meeting deadlines.
When asked about her favorite part of her job, Tory emphasized the people she works with and the work itself. “The work and the flexibility have kept me at AnaVation,” she said. Tory appreciates the company’s diverse and people-focused culture, where she doesn’t feel like just another number. Her experience speaks to AnaVation’s commitment to its employees—when her initial role wasn’t the right fit, AnaVation helped her find an internal position that she now enjoys immensely. A resource that Tory particularly enjoys is engaging in the monthly Education in the Evening sessions, which she finds incredibly beneficial to expanding her knowledge on different topics within our industry. Tory also expressed gratitude for the guidance and support she’s received from her supervisor, Kevin S., whom she considers a mentor. She admires Kevin’s ability to juggle multiple projects with ease and aspires to develop the same level of expertise in multitasking.
Outside of work, Tory is a devoted mother to her 4-year-old son. In her free time, Tory loves nothing more than spending time with her family. Whether it’s taking long walks in the park, driving to nearby attractions, or trying out new restaurants, her weekends are all about creating memorable experiences with her loved ones. A cherished tradition for Tory is the annual summer trip she takes with her extended family. These trips are a highlight of her year, filled with joy and togetherness. A hobby she has enjoyed for over five years is growing and nurturing plants. Recently, Tory and her husband have taken up a new and exciting challenge: setting up an aquarium for their pet fish.
A fun fact about Tory is that she had her son just a week before the COVID-19 lockdown. She likened the experience of leaving the hospital during the early days of the pandemic to being in a “zombie apocalypse movie” or an episode of “The Walking Dead.” Now, Tory has embraced motherhood and enjoys cooking for her son, jokingly referring to herself as an “aspiring chef” for her 4-year-old.
