AnaVation is thrilled to reflect on the incredible achievements of our summer interns. As we wrapped up the summer 2024 internship program, our interns showcased their hard work by presenting the final projects they had been developing throughout the months. Each team brought their problem-solving skills, creativity, and fresh perspectives to AnaVation. These projects demonstrated real-world practical solutions designed to tackle specific challenges within AnaVation.

Proposal Pro aimed to streamline our proposal writing process using large language models (LLMs). This team focused on creating compliance matrices, generating initial drafts, and cross-checking proposals with a compliance matrix, ultimately streamlining a typically time-consuming process. The team utilized technologies such as React JS, API Gateway, Lambda, Python Scripts, LLaMA 2, Mistral, Flask, Chroma, and Amazon S3 to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Despite challenges related to balancing machine learning costs and efficiency, the team found a cost-effective solution using Amazon EC2. They also improved the system’s accuracy and response time by combining prompt engineering and fine-tuning techniques. Throughout this project, the interns gained invaluable experience in working with AWS, data cleaning, and managing a self-directed project.

Project Drivr focused on enhancing vulnerability research through VR feedback and metrics. The objective was to help researchers quickly identify potentially vulnerable code, make informed decisions, and optimize testing efforts. The team employed a range of technologies to achieve their goals. Using Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Python, Ghidra, and x64dbg, the team streamlined code analysis and testing. They faced challenges with outdated and incompatible APIs but successfully overcame these obstacles by implementing simple logging and trace commands using x64dbg. This project underscored the importance of adaptability, thorough documentation, and effective time management, all of which were critical lessons for the interns involved.

Grid Search addressed issues of time inefficiency, communication gaps, and coverage problems in search and rescue operations. The team developed a grid searching app that enabled real-time collaboration among search teams, GPS-enabled tracking for location updates, and centralized management through an operation-managing website. The team employed Mapbox, Amplify, Android Studio, AWS, and Geojson.io to enable GPS tracking and centralized management. They overcame technical challenges with map rendering, resulting in a robust, and scalable solution. This project provided the interns with a comprehensive learning experience in full-stack development in web and app development.

This year’s internship program has been nothing short of extraordinary. Our interns not only tackled complex, real-world problems but also grew as professionals, learning valuable lessons in technology, teamwork, and adaptability. The projects they presented were a testament to their dedication, hard work, and creativity, and we couldn’t be prouder of their contributions to AnaVation.
